"Loved staying in the bungalows! Private and close to everything. We were in Bungalow 20. Easy walk to pool and close to marina. We hired a buggy and that was awesome to take to go up to watch the sunset. The hammock on the balcony was a lovely addition to the room. Wallabies at our doorstep and the magical sounds of the tropical birds reminded us that we were far away from home."

Booking.com

"The bungalows are part of a large hotel complex however they are set a short distance away. Very safe and very clean. We loved it. The hotel took care of your luggage from the airport for free. Modern, clean, in a great central location - close to pools and beach. The room was a perfect size, it was clean, and it was in an amazing area. Easy access to everything on the island that you could possibly want to see."

TripAdvisor

"The parade of bungalows are located between main street and the main hotel on a tranquil lawn with wallabies roaming free. The room was spacious, bed comfy and the shower strong and powerful. With a hammock on your porch, a short walk to all bars and food options whilst sitting on both bus routes around the island. It's truly the most perfect place for a couple seeking a somewhat more intimate experience of Hamilton Island."

Google Reviews

Heads up: These are garden view bungalows - you won't get ocean views from your room. However, Catseye Beach is literally a two-minute walk away. Some guests mention the bungalows are basic compared to the fancier options on the island, but that's reflected in the price. Also worth noting: Hamilton Island is completely cashless, so bring cards only!

The Location

Palm Bungalows Hamilton Island sits in the perfect middle ground on the island - nestled in tropical gardens with privacy and quiet, yet close enough to walk everywhere you need to go. You're literally two minutes from Catseye Beach, five minutes from the marina restaurants, and right next door to the wildlife park where you can cuddle koalas. It's the ideal spot for couples or families who want the island experience without the resort hotel vibe.

What's Nearby

Catseye Beach: The island's main beach is a 2-minute walk from the bungalows. Golden sand, calm water, and all the free water sports gear you can handle - kayaks, paddleboards, snorkelling equipment. The beach is patrolled and perfect for families.

Marina Village: About 5 minutes on foot to the marina precinct where most of the island's restaurants, bars, and shops are located. This is also where all the reef and island tours depart from. The Saturday morning markets here are brilliant for breakfast.

WILDLIFE Hamilton Island: Right next door to Palm Bungalows - literally a 2-minute stroll. Get up close with koalas, kangaroos, and native Australian wildlife. The breakfast with the lorikeets experience is particularly special for kids.

Resort Pools: The main resort pool is just a short walk away, though Palm Bungalows Hamilton Island guests also have access to multiple pools around the island including the adults-only pool.

Getting Around Hamilton Island

Hamilton Island is car-free, which adds to the relaxed island feel. You can walk pretty much everywhere from Palm Bungalows, or use the free island shuttle bus that runs constantly between all the main spots. Many guests hire a golf buggy for the duration of their stay - it's not essential but adds to the fun, especially for exploring the island's lookout points and taking sunset drives. Book your buggy well in advance as they're popular and do sell out.

  • Each bungalow has its own private balcony with outdoor furniture and a hammock
  • Lush tropical landscaping with palms, ferns, and native plants creating natural privacy
  • Wallabies regularly hop through the gardens - especially in early morning and evening
  • Tropical bird sounds provide the soundtrack to your mornings
  • Separated from the busier resort areas for a peaceful, private feel
  • Natural shade keeps the bungalows cool even on hot days
