About Whitsunday Apartments Hamilton Island
Right on the resort side of Hamilton Island, Whitsunday Apartments sits adjacent to Catseye Beach - literally a one-minute stroll to the sand. With 140 spacious apartments spread across the complex, this place nails the balance between resort amenities and the independence of your own apartment. You've got your own full kitchen, plenty of space to spread out, and a massive balcony where you'll probably spend most of your time.
The location is brilliant - close enough to walk to everything (the marina, shops, restaurants), but far enough back from the action to feel peaceful. The tropical lagoon pool and heated spa are set in beautiful gardens, and there's something magical about swimming while looking out at the Coral Sea. Perfect for families who need the extra space and kitchen facilities, or couples wanting a romantic island escape with proper sunset views.
Hamilton Island is the only island in the Great Barrier Reef with its own commercial airport, making it super accessible with direct flights from major cities. From here, you're perfectly positioned to explore Whitehaven Beach, snorkel the reef, or just enjoy everything the island itself has to offer.
What Guests Are Saying
"We stayed at Whitsunday Apartments for four nights and had a Coral Sea View apartment on the 13th floor, which gave spectacular views over Catseye Bay, including unbelievable sunrises. We even spotted humpback whales breaching from our balcony, which was an unforgettable highlight. The apartments were spacious and clean with a free transfer from the airport. Sitting outside for breakfast and lunch was amazing, and we were often joined by cockatoos hoping to steal something."
TripAdvisor
"The view was absolutely stunning! Comfortable apartment right across from the best beach for swimming and snorkelling. The apartment had everything I needed to relax and cook meals. Walking distance to the marina and resort centre, though the free shuttle buses make getting around really easy. Our baby was so excited to see the cockatoos visit us every day on the balcony."

"We stayed on the 9th floor for 4 nights looking out to the Coral Sea and the view was stunning! Room and bed are spacious, bathroom and kitchen serviced every day! The apartment was well-appointed with a full kitchen which saved us a fortune on expensive island food. Location couldn't be better - you're one stop prior to the free green bus shuttle which means you can always get on. Close to beaches, main pools, and all activities."
Google Reviews
Good to know: WiFi works great in the living areas but can be weak in bedrooms. The property doesn't have an on-site restaurant or cafe (there's a coffee cart for morning espressos), but with full kitchens in every apartment and an IGA supermarket on the island, most guests happily self-cater for at least some meals to save money. The cheeky cockatoos are adorable but will steal anything left on your balcony!

The Location
Positioned right on the resort side of Hamilton Island, Whitsunday Apartments enjoys one of the best locations on the island. You're literally across the road from Catseye Beach - the main swimming beach with calm, protected waters perfect for families. Everything is within walking distance, though the free island shuttle service runs constantly if you'd prefer to hop on.
What's Nearby
Catseye Beach: The main beach is 50 metres away - one minute walk max. Calm, protected waters backed by beautiful palms and the grassy foreshore. Perfect for swimming, kayaking, or just floating about. The beach has loungers, and there's a water sports hire kiosk if you fancy paddleboarding or sailing.
Hamilton Island Marina: About 10 minutes walk (or a quick shuttle ride). This is where most of your tours will depart from - reef trips, Whitehaven Beach excursions, sailing adventures. The marina village has shops, restaurants, and a beautiful boardwalk. Great for an evening stroll.
Resort Centre: Six-minute walk to the main hub with restaurants, bars, shops, and the IGA supermarket. The supermarket is brilliant - properly stocked with everything you need at reasonable prices (considering it's an island). Smart guests stock up here and save a fortune on meals out.
One Tree Hill: A must-visit for sunset. Six-minute buggy ride (or a decent uphill walk if you're keen). The 360-degree views over the Whitsundays are absolutely stunning - bring your camera and maybe a bottle of wine.
Wild Life Hamilton Island: Eight-minute walk. Interactive wildlife park where you can cuddle koalas, feed kangaroos, and meet native Australian animals. Kids absolutely love it.
Island Living Made Easy
Hamilton Island has no cars - everyone gets around on foot, by free shuttle bus, or on golf buggies (which you can hire). Whitsunday Apartments is on the green shuttle route, and because it's one of the first stops, you'll always get a seat. The buses run constantly from 7am to 11pm, making it super easy to explore the whole island.
The island itself is your gateway to some seriously incredible experiences. Whitehaven Beach - consistently rated one of the world's best beaches - is just a boat ride away. The Great Barrier Reef surrounds you. Snorkelling, diving, sailing, island hopping - it's all here. And at the end of the day, you come back to your spacious apartment with its big balcony and those views.
Check-in, Transfers & Important Information
Reception Hours & Check-in
Reception is open daily from 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM. Check-in starts at 2:00 PM and check-out is by 10:00 AM. If you're arriving outside reception hours, contact the property in advance to arrange after-hours check-in. You'll need to provide arrival details when booking.
Free Airport & Marina Transfers
Complimentary transfers are provided to and from Hamilton Island Airport and the ferry terminal. This is a brilliant service - someone will meet you on arrival and take you straight to your apartment. The airport is only 2 minutes away. Make sure to advise your arrival time when booking.
Important to Know
Hamilton Island is car-free, so you won't need vehicle parking. Everyone uses the free shuttle buses or hires golf buggies. Photo ID and credit card required at check-in. Children under 18 stay free when using existing bedding. The property charges a credit card fee of 4.69% for card payments.
Smart tip: Bring some groceries from the mainland if possible (especially drinks), or stock up at the IGA when you arrive. Island prices are higher than mainland, though the IGA is actually pretty reasonable. Having your own kitchen means you can save heaps by cooking some meals.
